Introduction
to Animation

The
course will introduce the principles
of animation, a brief history of animation
and various animation techniques. The
class will emphasize digital animation
and will include exercises in hand drawn,
computer graphics, cut-outs, and stop-motion
animation techniques. Delivery for web,
video, film and other media will be
discussed.
Software:
Adobe Photoshop, ImageReady, and Final
Cut Pro
Knowledge of Mac platform and Final
Cut Pro or a non-linear editing program
is highly recommended.
Students will make a short 10-30 second
animation using any of the techniques.
Chelsea
Walton is an animator and filmmaker.
She is a Final Cut Pro Certified Apple
Trainer and teaches film and animation
classes around the Bay Area. She received
an M.F.A in Cinema at San Francisco
State University where she was awarded
The Leo Diner Award for her hand drawn
animation, Jack and Middy Retire.

Class
1: Intro to course, animation examples
techniques, principles, prepare proposal
or idea for 10-30 second animation
Class 2: Present proposals,
Frame Thief, scanning, digital stills
into Final Cut Pro
Class 3: Work day, Exporting
QuickTime movies
Class 4: Work day
Class 5: Work day, Screen final
projects, burn DVD (iDVD)
