Painting is an ancient form of human
expression. From the time of cave
paintings, mankind has used paint
to record and interpret the evolution
of our civilization. This course
will explore the foundation of painting:
the process of applying paint on
canvas to represent and interpret
what we see. The class will introduce
pigments and color theory, which
are the basis for gaining an intuitive
sense of color and form. Using acrylic
paint and working from a still life,
students will paint during each
class session to practice rendering
observations and impressions with
pigments. Personal expression is
encouraged. The cost of materials
is not included in the fee.

Jeffrey

in the desert of Tucson where he
earned his MFA from the University
of Arizona in 1998. He is represented
by Hang Gallery in San Francisco.
