Beginning Darkroom Photography
$160
/ $130 UCB students
(Price includes 6 hours of darkroom
time)
For most of the past century, black
and white photography was the most advanced
and powerful medium of visual communication.
Artists, journalists, historians, advertisers
and amateurs all employed photography
with often stunning results. Today,
the black and white photograph is undiminished
in vibrancy and elegance.
This course is an introduction to black
and white darkroom photography. Students
will learn the basic skills required to
shoot, develop and print black & white
photographs. To participate, students
will need a camera that has manually adjustable
exposure controls. No point and shoots!
Access to the darkroom facilities outside
of class meetings is available for a modest
hourly fee.
